A quiet house and I am enjoying my coffee:) Harris is off to daycare and Evy is still getting her beauty sleep. It is amazing what a good night's sleep can do - I know I have said this before but it is true. I plan to move her out of the bed soon but I sleep all night and so does Kirby (just not together but that will come and could be kind of fun - just like moving in together all over again!)

Yesterday, was busy but all in all good. We went to the Whyte Ridge play with a ton of neighbours in the morning. Well worth the $5 - H can paint at an easel, make a craft (all supplies are provided and he made a penguin), run his butt off and finish with the parachute and a few songs. Mom can enjoy Tim Horton's, socialize and play when requested. We came home had lunch and brace yourself - BOTH kids slept at the same time!!!!!! We made homemade granola bars, played hockey and continued to organized the toys in the basement which have taken over. I even managed to whip up dinner, walk the dog, bath Evy, and then after Kirby had put Harris to bed watch Prison Break on Tivo with my hubbie. Yup, my mood is better and I am feeling a bit like a super mom. It's the sleep!!!!

Today, Evy and I are going to do a few errands and spend a little more quality time together and relax.

The open house is tommorrow and if you want to see the spectacle of me out with both kids we are plannning to go around 11 am. There is a great sale on Zutano and the clothes are really awesome so check them out if you are in the neighborhood.

February 25, 2007

Well, I made it through the weekend but I am crabby, crabby, crabby right now so I will keep this short and try to go to bed!

The doctor finally called at 5:45 pm Friday the one call I must have missed -aghhh. Anyhow, called Healthlinks to see what I should do about her vomiting and here is my beef with anything to with babies and them - they always recommend you take them to a doctors - so how much help is that????

Anyhow, lack of babysitter had the whole family pack up and head to Children's....the place was infested - there must of been over 40 sick, snot nosed, coughing, barfing kids in there and I lasted a total of 20 minutes before some germ anxiety came over me and we bolted home to disinfect! Evy kept throwing up into the morning and we watched her like hawks (the start of no sleep and my crabbiness) so at 6 am I took her back. Night and Day - 2 people ahead of me and I knew the doctor. She was not dehydrated so he just gave me so tips and things to watch for. Exactly what I was thinking but better safe than sorry.

Since she is so little we decided to cancel our younger babysitter and Kirby stayed home from the wedding. My good friend Julie's BF was out of town so we went together and had a great time catching up although the wedding was in Starbuck and the drive home was terrible. I was the driver but did eye 2 beers. The wedding was fun but the late night coupled with the night before made Sunday morning come WAY too soon.

I woke up to the standing coffee/playdate with my neighbour while our husbands are at hockey and then proceeded to go on a long overdue cleaning frenzy which already seems to be a mess (how do you keep it clean and tidy with a 2 year old boy?) Evy is not sleeping today and my patience is now at an all time low. Kirby went into bed with Harris to read a bedtime story and 2 hours later I had to wake him up:) We are missing our parents and there help, 1 week until they come home. I am going to bed wondering if I could actually be a parent if I didn't have help from the grandparents from time to time. One week until they come home. We are going to get some extra chores doen, have a date, spend some quality time with Harris and mooch a few good meals.

February 24, 2007

What a day!!! I went from waking up at 8 am (yup, even with a newborn and a toddler - a rarity) and thinking that my baby was a wonder child as she slept from almost 8pm to 8am with only 1 quick feeding to realizing that the reason that she slept so long is she has the flu. Yup, the projectile vomiting started at 9 am and has occured after every feeding.

I feel most sorry for her but I do feel a little sorry for me too (selfishlu I know) but I was actually going out tonight - to Wasabi and a movie.....my childless friends invited me and I am now cancelling - will they invite me again or have they once again given up on MO2 (Mother-of-2) New plans - Harris, Kirby, Evy and I are renting a movie - Flushed Away and snuggling up on the couch! Not so bad but still WASABI!!!!!!!!!

I have also no idea what to do for her! I called the doctor at 11 am and at 3 pm - they assure me he will call me today but the day is almost over....any ideas, tips - please post asap.

Here is a few pics for you all - Evy 1 month

February 23, 2007

It is 12:44 am (into Friday) where have I been and why am I not sleeping??? Of course, because Evy is sleeping soundly for hours and that is always how it works. I am up watching her breathe in denial that she would sleep this long.

Well, Kirby and I have been MIA with the stomach flu - again for me. Mental note next year this whole house is getting the flu shot! It has been He$$ - we are way too used to some help from grandparents for these things and we had to hit up Kirb's brother to help us a bit.

It is funny how it knocks all the energy out of 2 already very run down parents and for me nursing when I couldn't eat or drink anything was horrible and life sucking BUT it is done now and there is one, although warped positive outcome - I am a few pounds closer to my pre-pregnancy weight.

Last night I experienced what my parents expereinced in getting me a Cabbage Patch Kid when they first came out - only for Harris and his education.....a much better cause but oh how times have changed. I went to the Montessori Pre-school by house to see their open house only to find out that people are crazy about it and there are only a few select spots left. I had to stand outside in the cold (it could have been colder:)) for 1 HOUR - I am not joking. Then once inside I was given a number and had to make a spilt second decision and pay for a remaining spot if I wanted it - well caught up in the frenzy and my previous ideas - of course I wanted it!!!! Did you know they actual had to caution us not to push through the doors because one year there was an actual fight?

Other than that we are good - potty training is going quite good and Evy is great and us parents well we are on the mend. I am going out with friends tonight and tommorrow a wedding. Yes, world I am reclaiming my social life - look out!!!!

Sunday, February 18, 2007

I am a terrible mother! We decided to go hard core potty training with Harris as we had 4 consecutive days with him at home. He is doing so awesome almost no accidents - pee and poo! However, I did know better than to take him to his Music and Movement class in gitch rather than a pull-up for 3 reasons:
1 - It is a bit much to expect him mid song or game to tell me he has to go pee when we have just started venture out in public with underroos on
2 - The bathroom is actually on floor below the gym the are in (U of M)????
3 - It would be way more stressful on all of to have an accident

So, what happens...well, Kirby and I are running around like mad getting both kids ready to go and we forget about the pull-up. The class is almost over and mid-song he whispers to me..."Mom, I have to go pee" Then I proceed to tell him "Go in your pants - that's ok" because I assume he is wearing a pull-up. He goes! He looks like he is going to cry and I look down check his pants and realize I forgot to get him out of his gitch and he has gone pee on my command. I felt TERRIBLE!

I am not going to vent on here about my hubbie but why is it a mom can get 10 things done around the house for every 1 thing a guy can. ENOUGH said:) Although I will say after my gigantic temper tantrum and numerous dirty looks - he did get the point and has stepped it uo a bit. The question is for how long this time?

Here is something very funny!

Happy a little late Valentine's Day! I couldn' t work on the blog yesterday - too much romance - hehe. We just stayed in, relaxed and Harris and I made Kirby dinner....well, we make dinner everyday but this dinner was SHRIMP!

Other than that I am getting into a routine I think? Harris is back starting toliet training and yesterday he pooped on the potty after a few months of only going pee! That was his valentine to me - how funny how poop can make you excited. Evy and I have slept the last 2 nights together and Kirby has been on the couch - I don't even notice her and never even have to get out of bed once. Kirby gets a good sleep too! Whatever works hey? I never would have thought that I would be opting for this pre-first baby.

Oh ya, one more exciting thing - we are at the store today! So fun, I miss it and my business partner is waaaaaaayyyy to busy to be without me.

One other thin - the thrush I think is gone but I have a new pain - am I crazy but when my milk lets down it kills.....I know it was like this with harris but I do not remember it being as strong??? Could that be thrush - who know? A mother's paranoia I guess.

Talk to you all soon.

February 11, 2007

Well, it is Sunday night and the weekend has come and go! It started with a bit of depression for me when my sister left on Friday but today I feel as though I am back to normal and did have a great weekend. Where did the time go? What did I do? Besides laundry, play toys and nurse I did actually manage to get a few thngs done. Friday night was quiet and we were in bed as soon as everyone settled down. It took Harris a bit to go to sleep in his bed as he was sharing his fancy new queen bed with his favorite Aunt all week. Getting up thru the night is always a blur unless we have a really bad night but it seemed ok.

Saturday, Evy and I spent a portion of the day with Brandi at the Anticipation booth at the Baby show. Thanks to everyone that stopped by:) Even though we were not there for the full day betweeen getting ready and winding down the day felt full. Now, brace yourself for this...the kids were both sleeping by 8 pm and my husband and I actually cuddled up on the couch to watch some of our fave shows taped earlier in the week. I will admit at 10pm I called it quits and headed off to bed.

Today, we played as always with Marnie, Owen (2 yrs), and Megan (3months) our bestest neighbours and friends while the dads were at their Sunday morning hockey league. The girls slept the entire time and Marnie and I got in some much need quality playtime with the boys! Friends came to visit Evy this afternoon and brought us an amazing dinner so now here I am feeling no stress - getting the kids ready for be and my myself ready for a great evening with a glass of wine and a new epsiode of Desperate Housewives. I am even feeling so relaxed that I have agreed to "let" my husband head out next Saturday to a fun filled social evening (www.winterpegchallenge.com) that we usually attend together. I will stay home since we are a little low on babysitters for this clan while all our parents are off doing the snow bird thing. I'll get him back with a spa day soon.

About the bottle - some major progress. She has now taken both pumped milk and formula from the Platex Nurser with the LATEX nipple. Thanks everyone for the advice. Who knew I had been so fortunate with Harris - he would eat anything out of anything at any age even if he was stuffed to the brim and would puke it out a half hour later.

Anyhow, we are off to tkae the dog for a run and get a Tim's before putting these munchkins to bed.

Have a great night!

February 9, 2007

Hi All,

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the diaper rash advice, I so do appreciate it. It is well on the way to being gone and Evy is happier than ever. I do not want o brag to anyone struggling with sleep - but I got a 4 1/2 hour stretch last night:) Funny how this makes you excited!

We ventured out on our first big family excursion last night with my sister - all of us to Olive Garden for dinner and then to the Wesmen basketball game to watch a family fried who is the coach for Brandon Bobcats. It was a little chaotic getting in and out of the cold but other than that pretty fun. Oh ya, except for the fact that Evy's diaper was not done up tight enough and she peed all over my lap! Thankfully, I did remember to pack her new clothes.

Other than that my sister leaves today and I will have a big meltdown. I already cried my eyes out watching Harris say good-bye to her before going to daycare this morning. Atleast it will only be a month and then the Gompf family (yup, all 4 of us) are heading out to Calgary for a few days to catch a Flames game and visit.

We tried to give Evy a bottle last night and she refused so we are going to have to try again tonight. Anyhow, hope to see you at the show.

February 8, 2007

Wow, time is escapingme - I thought I would write in this everyday but I am way too busy doing much of nothing - ok, I am feeding what might be a very hungry little girl:)

What has changed in the past few days??? I am definately feeling better - still a little on the mend but on my way to a full recovery. Evy is great - a little more fussy than the first few weeks but she does have Thrush so maybe that is it. Can I just scream to the world I hate thrush. I had it with H and here we go again. While it is not that painful for me it is soooooo annoying. We are on nipple cream , bum cream, nystatin oral drops for Evy, Grapefruit seed extract and achillidopholus for me....in addition to no pumping milk (I gave her formula last night - first time but I need this baby to enjoy having a bottle from Dad every now and then and a break may run the risk of her snubbing it :)) and washing way more laundry than what already seems to be a riduclous amount.

About the formula - here goes the mom's guilt - I feel terrible - but why I am feeding her boobing at least 98% of the time and yet I have started back with this guilty feeling. I refuse to let it bug me - I am going to not feel guilty one more minute - a little formula (or all formula fed babies for that matter) does not have any impact on your ability to be a great mom.

My sis goes home tommorrow and Kirby and I will be alone with 2 kids - will we survive - keep checking on that.

Other than that I am going to the store to get a sling - I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!! I think I am healed enought to carry her around and I am drooling at the idea of free hands - oh the things that are going to get scratched of my "To Do" list now.....

Anyhow, me and Evy are going to be at the baby show this weekend for a while on Saturday so if you are there come by and let me show her off.

The "Baby Moon" is over!

Well, the reality of a two year old and a baby has set in - total and complete chaos! I will still say that Harris is being really good but we have spoiled him a bit too much and now I am finding that I should have been more firm with his rules (ie. nap time, etc.). So all you preggo's out there - get your parenting and rules in order so that it is that much harder for them to bend when the baby arrives. Evy is still a great baby! Kirby is still a great Dad! Me, I am losing my mind:)

There is a ton of laundry, toys and baby stuff everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE...no where in this house is sacred. I am the human boob every two hours on the couch - to which is Harris's delight since I can not get up quick to scold him if he is into mischief. We ventured out to gym class on Saturday and with 2 kids - whoa - add an hour to the time you think it will take you to get everyone ready because we all know once you are dressed up in your winter clothes it is time for the baby to eat:)

My other honest (maybe I am being too honest) is that I feel as though I have become a single parent - only because Kirby and I are each with one child doing something and have no extra time to spend with each other. I can not imagine how a single parent actually does it -- kudos to you all out there! I think we will have a date soon but not soon enough....I do still love my husband and actually so what to talk with him about something other than our kids poopy diapers and discipline.

Please don't be scared - I know everyone says that this will pass and really we are already older than 2 weeks so we I best enjoy that she is still a baby before she is 12 and hates me because I wont buy her a thong (which mark my words will be one thing I do not cave on :))

I will try and update this more often and not scare you away from reading it.

PS. Evy has diaper rash which Harris never had -if anyone has any great tips for it can you please post a reply for me with advice.
